Vivek Telecom

You can find Vivek Telecom right on the corner in Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar, at 21/9. It’s a small shop, mostly filled with mobile accessories and recharge cards. We’ve been here in RT Nagar for years, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. Most days, it’s just a steady stream of people coming in because their screen cracked or they need a new SIM card. We have these glass counters that are always covered in fingerprints by the afternoon, no matter how much we wipe them. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when more than three customers come in at once. We spend a lot of time hunched over small parts and tiny screws. It’s quiet in the mornings, but once the schools and offices let out, the street gets really loud and the shop gets busy. We don’t have a fancy website or anything like that. People just know we are here because of the sign outside. Sometimes we sit on the stools out front when it’s slow, just watching the traffic go by on the main road. We keep a small radio in the back for some background noise while we work on the phones. It’s not a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy and we like the people who live around here. We just try to keep things running smoothly for everyone’s gadgets without making a big deal out of it.
