We run the Syntel EPABX business from Cunningham Road, number 213, over in Mathikere. It’s mostly about phones and communication systems for offices. We have been working with these wires and switchboards for a long time now. The office is a bit cramped with all the boxes of cables and handsets piled up against the walls. We spend a lot of time out at other people’s offices setting things up, so the shop is sometimes quiet during the afternoons. When we are here, we are usually testing lines or trying to fix a board that got fried by a power surge. It’s technical work but we try not to overthink it. Cunningham Road is a nice enough place, though finding a parking spot is always a nightmare. We don't have a fancy website or any of that. People find us through word of mouth or because they saw our sign while stuck in traffic nearby. Sometimes we have to climb into ceilings to pull heavy wires, which is never fun. We just try to make sure the phones work so people can talk to each other. It’s a small team here. We usually have a lot of tea and talk about the new systems coming out. It’s a pretty basic life here in Mathikere. We just make sure the lines don't go dead when someone is trying to make an important call. Our desk is usually covered in manuals and half-assembled handsets, but we know where everything is.
