About Vinayaka Wine Centre – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru
I work over at Vinayaka Wine Centre at 40/2 Malleshwaram Undri. It’s a straightforward shop. We spend most of our day moving crates and making sure the bottles are lined up right on the shelves. It’s a lot of lifting and reaching, so my back usually hurts a bit by the time evening rolls around. The floor is concrete and it gets pretty cold in the rainy season. Malleshwaram is always busy, so there’s a constant stream of people coming through the door. Some people know exactly what they want and are out in a minute. Others like to stand and look at the labels for a long time. I don't mind either way. I just stand behind the counter and handle the cash. We don't have any fancy decorations or lighting. It’s just fluorescent tubes that hum a little bit. In the afternoons, when it’s slow, I usually take a damp cloth and wipe down the counter. It gets sticky from people putting their bags down. The Undri area has its own vibe, and we’re right in the middle of it. We see all sorts of people. It’s a basic job, but it keeps me busy. I like the routine of opening up, checking the stock, and then closing the shutters at the end of the night. It’s just a local shop serving the people who live nearby, nothing more and nothing less than that. Usually, the weekends get the busiest with a lot of noise.
