You can find us over at Plot No-65/120 on Richmond Road. We are right next to Prism Lights and pretty close to the Classic Building, so it’s not too hard to find if you’re driving through Richmond Town. The shop is usually a bit of a mess with pieces of acrylic, metal sheets, and paint cans scattered around the floor. Making sign boards is a noisy business, especially when we are cutting letters or welding frames together. There’s always a fine layer of dust on everything, no matter how much we try to sweep it up. We get a lot of walk-ins from people who are starting new businesses in the neighborhood and need something to put over their door. Sometimes we are working late into the night to finish a big sign before the morning. It’s mostly just us handling the tools and trying to get the dimensions right. The traffic on Richmond Road can be a nightmare during rush hour, so we hear a lot of honking while we work. It’s a practical kind of job, nothing very glamorous about it. We just focus on the boards and making sure the letters don’t fall off. Every day is different because one person wants a small nameplate and the next needs a huge board for a shop front. We just take it as it comes and try to keep the workbench somewhat organized, even if it never stays that way.
