Vijayalakshmi Flower Decorators is based in Cottonpet, which is one of the older parts of Bangalore. We are at No.7 in T D Lane, which is quite near the VST Auto Agency. If you know Cottonpet, you know it is famous for flowers and markets. We have been doing flower decorations for a long time now. Our mornings start very early, usually before the sun is even up, because that is when the fresh flowers arrive from the market. The shop smells like jasmine and marigolds most of the time, which is nice, but it can get quite messy with all the stems and leaves on the floor. We spend our hours weaving garlands and setting up displays for weddings or local functions. It is a very busy, physical kind of job. The lane we are in is quite narrow, so things can get a bit cramped when we are loading up the delivery vans. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. We just have our workspace where the magic happens with the blossoms. The staff here has been working with flowers for years, so their hands move very fast. It is a simple life centered around the seasons and what is blooming. We are just local people who know our way around a bouquet and a stage backdrop. Most people in the area know our shop by the sight of the petals on the ground.
