Vijay General Store

Our shop, Vijay General Store, is over on Temple Road in Malleswaram. We are situated between 8th Cross and 10th Cross, quite close to the Food Camp. This part of Bangalore is always busy, especially with people going to the temples or grabbing a bite to eat. The address is 15/2, and it’s a standard storefront with a metal shutter that we pull up every morning. We keep a lot of different items for the kitchen and the house. It’s the kind of place where you can find exactly what you forgot to buy at the bigger market. The shelves are wooden and look their age, but they hold everything just fine. We don't have a computer for billing, we just do it all by hand or with a small calculator. Sometimes it takes a minute if there is a long list of items. The neighborhood is nice, and we know most of the people who walk past our door. It gets a bit crowded on the weekends because of the location. We just keep our heads down and serve whoever comes in. There is no air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day long. We have some jars of sweets near the counter for the kids who come with their parents. It’s just a normal way to make a living here in Malleswaram.
