Venkateswara Store

Venkateswara Store is tucked away at 6, G Street in Halasuru. We are really close to the Metro Station, which is handy for people commuting. Bangalore has changed a lot, but this part of Halasuru still feels like the old neighborhood I grew up in. The store is just a small place where we keep all the daily essentials. I spend most of my day standing behind the wooden counter or climbing the ladder to reach things on the top shelves. It’s a lot of work, and my back sometimes hurts by evening, but it’s okay. We get a lot of people coming in on their way to or from the metro. Some just want a bottle of water or a packet of biscuits. Others are locals from G Street who come in for their full monthly grocery list. I try to keep everything in stock, but sometimes the suppliers are late because of the Bangalore traffic. You know how it is. The shop can get a bit dusty with the windows open, so I’m always wiping down the counters. It’s not a polished place with bright lights. It’s just a regular store with stuff piled up where it fits. We know our customers by name and often know what they want before they even ask. It’s a steady life here near the station. We open up early and don't really close until late at night when the metro crowds thin out.
