Venkateshwara Metal

Venkateshwara Metal is situated at 38/1 on the Chickpet Ganesh Temple Cross. Being right by the temple means we hear the bells and the prayers every day, which is actually quite nice. The shop is full of metal items, and it smells a bit like iron and dust in here. It’s a heavy job, moving things around and making sure everything is where it should be. We have stacks of inventory that go almost up to the ceiling. Chickpet is a very busy place, so we are constantly dealing with carts and delivery people trying to squeeze through the cross. We don’t have much room for a fancy office, so we just have a small desk near the front where we keep the ledger and the phone. Most of our day is spent helping people find the right size or type of metal they are looking for. It’s honest work and it keeps our hands dirty, but that’s just how it is in this trade. We know most of the people who walk past because they work in the other shops nearby. Sometimes we share a tea with the guy from the shop next door when things are a bit slow in the afternoon. It's a simple life here, just managing the stock and making sure the shop stays open for whoever needs us at any hour of the working day.
