Venkatachala Gupta General Store

Our shop is located at 2010 in Banashankari 2nd Stage. It’s a general store, so we have a bit of everything crammed into the shelves. From soap to bags of rice, we try to keep what the neighbors need. Venkatachala Gupta is the name on the board outside, though most people just call it the corner shop. It’s been here for years, and the building shows its age a bit. We haven't changed much over time. The counter is worn down from people leaning on it while they wait for their change. We know most of the kids who come in for snacks and their parents who come in for the monthly groceries. It’s a busy life, especially in the mornings when everyone is rushing for milk. We don't have fancy lights or a barcode scanner. We just write things down and do the math in our heads or on a small calculator. Sometimes we run out of things, but we try to get them back in stock by the next day. The street outside is usually full of scooters and people walking their dogs. It feels like a small village inside a big city. We enjoy the chat with the customers more than the actual selling sometimes. It’s just what we’ve always done, and we plan to keep doing it as long as the neighbors keep showing up.
