Vardhaman Steel Centre

We are located at 60, 27th Cross, in the 4th Block of Jayanagar. Jayanagar is a very nice part of Bangalore, with lots of trees and parks, but our specific street is quite commercial and busy. Vardhaman Steel Centre is exactly what it sounds like. We sell steel rods, sheets, and various other metal pieces for construction and repairs. The shop is basically a large garage-like space filled with heavy inventory. It’s not the cleanest place in the world because steel tends to leave a lot of dust and rust marks on the floor. We have a big cutting machine that makes a lot of noise, so we try to use it only during certain hours so the neighbors don't get too annoyed with us. The office part is just a small wooden desk tucked into a corner with a computer that’s mostly used for simple billing and keeping track of stocks. We have a few plastic chairs for customers, but most people just stand around while we load their trucks or autos. My uncle started this place, and I’ve been helping out here since I finished school. We work long hours, usually from eight in the morning until the sun goes down and we pull the shutters. The traffic on the cross roads can be tricky for the delivery lorries, so we have to be careful with the timing. It’s a straightforward business. We buy steel, store it, and sell it to whoever needs it for their project.
