Vaishnavi Dhall Mill

We are located at Number 53 in the Nanjappa Layout. This is part of the J.C. Industrial Estate, right off Kanakapura Road. Being in an industrial estate means there is always the sound of machinery and trucks moving around. Our mill is no different. From the moment we open up, the machines start their humming and it doesn't really stop until late. Processing dhall is a dusty business, so everyone usually wears covers and we try to sweep up as often as we can. The bags are heavy, and moving them from the machines to the storage area takes a lot of effort. Sometimes the traffic on Kanakapura Road makes it hard for the supply trucks to get in on time, which throws off our whole day. We have a small corner where we sit and keep the records, but mostly we are on our feet on the mill floor. It is not a place for sitting around. The air smells like raw pulses and earth. We have been here for a good while, and we know most of the other people working in the layout. It’s a community of sorts, even if everyone is just busy with their own production. We don’t have any fancy brochures or a big marketing team, just the mill and the work we do every day. It’s loud and dusty, but it’s our daily life here, and we just keep the machines running.
