Our place is right there at 3 Kamakshi Palya, tucked into the M J Market area on Gundophanth Street. If you know the area, you know how busy it gets with all the shops and people moving around. We are directly opposite the Pooja Kalyana Mantapa, so on weekends, there is always a lot of music and people dressed up for weddings. It makes for a loud work day, but we are used to it by now. Being in the transport business, we spend a lot of time looking at maps and talking to drivers on their mobile phones. The trucks come and go, though getting them through the narrow market streets is always a bit of a headache. We have a small office where we keep all the logbooks and the delivery receipts. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time to move the filing cabinets. There is a tea stall just two doors down where we spend most of our breaks. You can smell the diesel and the street food all day long. Sometimes we just sit on the plastic chairs outside and watch the chaos. It isn’t a fancy corporate office. We just have a couple of ceiling fans that creak a bit when they are on high speed. It gets the job done. We have been in this spot for a few years, and we know most of the other shopkeepers. When the monsoon hits, the street outside gets quite muddy. We use a lot of old rope and tarps to keep things dry. It is a lot of physical work, especially when heavy crates arrive late.
