Usha Steel Centre

We are down here in the Peenya Muneshwara Industrial Estate, right near the Peenya Police Station. It's a busy part of Tumkur Road with lots of trucks moving in and out all day. Usha Steel Centre has been in this spot for a good bit now. The floor is usually covered in dust and there’s always a bit of noise from the nearby shops. We keep a lot of stock piled up in the back. It’s not the cleanest place you’ll ever visit but we know where everything is kept. Dealing with steel means a lot of lifting and moving heavy stuff. My hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning. That’s just how it goes in this line of work. We get a lot of people coming in from the main road looking for specific pieces. Sometimes we have it and sometimes we don't. The traffic outside can be a nightmare in the evenings. We usually close up once the sun starts going down and the police station lights come on. It’s a straightforward business. No fancy reception area or air conditioning here. Just stacks of metal and the smell of the industrial estate. We’ve been at 41334 for a long time. Most of the regulars know the shortcut to get here. The gate squeaks a bit when you open it. We should probably oil it soon.
