Usha Provision & Rice Traders

If you walk around Konankunte near Evershine Nagar, you’ll find us easily enough. Usha Provision & Rice Traders is a local shop where we mostly deal in different kinds of rice and the basic things people need for their kitchens. It’s a small place, but we keep it packed with bags of grain. The smell of raw rice is the first thing you notice when you walk in. We spend a lot of time weighing things out and tying up plastic bags. It’s physical work, especially when the big shipments come in and we have to stack the heavy sacks. My back feels it some days, but that’s part of the trade. We’ve seen kids in this neighborhood grow up and start coming in to buy things for their own houses now. It makes the place feel like part of the family. We don’t do any big advertising or anything like that. People just know we’re here in Evershine Nagar if they need their monthly supplies. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use candles or a torch to find things in the back. It’s just a regular neighborhood store. We try to keep the shelves stocked, but sometimes we run out of something and have to wait for the truck next Tuesday. It’s a quiet life mostly, just serving the people who live nearby and making sure the rice is good.
