We are tucked away in Dhun Mansion, right on Avantikabai Gokhale Street. If you know the Opera House area, you know it’s the heart of the auto parts trade in Mumbai. It’s crowded, noisy, and there’s always someone looking for a rare component. We’ve been here for ages. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with boxes. Sometimes it looks like a mess to an outsider, but we know exactly where every bolt and gasket is hidden. We don't have a computer system that tracks everything perfectly; it’s mostly in our heads and some old notebooks. We deal with all sorts of cars, mostly the older models that people still try to keep on the road. The building itself is old, with those high ceilings and heavy doors. It gets very busy in the afternoons with couriers and mechanics coming in and out. We don't do much in the way of advertising. People just know to come to Dhun Mansion when they can't find a part elsewhere. We’ve seen many shops come and go on this street, but we just keep doing what we’ve always done. It’s a family thing, passed down through a couple of generations. We drink a lot of cutting chai and talk to the neighbors while waiting for the next customer. It’s just life at Opera House, and we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves if we weren't here.
