Univercell

Being on Whitefield Main Road means we deal with a lot of traffic. At number 669, Univercell is just a place where we sell mobile phones and talk about data plans. The sun hits the front window in the afternoon and makes it really hot, so we have to keep the AC running all the time. It’s a clean shop, but not fancy. We have a lot of demo phones bolted to the counters so people can poke at them. Most of our day is spent answering the same questions about camera quality and how long the battery lasts. We get a lot of office workers coming in during their lunch breaks, looking for a new pair of headphones because they lost theirs. Sometimes it’s quiet for hours and then suddenly ten people walk in at the same time. We have to keep an eye on everything to make sure nothing goes missing. The floor gets scuffed up from all the shoes, so we have to mop it every evening before we go home. It’s a lot of standing and talking. We aren't trying to do anything big, just making sure people get the phone they need so we can pay the rent. The signage outside is a bit faded from the weather, but people still find us. We keep a cooler with water for the staff because talking all day makes your throat dry. It’s just how we get by.
