United Cottage Emporium

We’ve been running United Cottage Emporium here on Infantry Road for a good number of years now. It’s one of those spots that hasn't changed much while the rest of the city keeps getting busier and louder outside our front door. Most days, it’s just a couple of us behind the counter, making sure things are in their right places. We don’t have a big fancy office or a marketing team telling us what to say to people who walk in. If you come by, you’ll probably see some boxes waiting to be unpacked or a bit of dust on the top shelves because we prioritize getting the actual work done. The street gets pretty crowded in the afternoons, but inside, it stays fairly quiet. We know the neighbors pretty well, like the guy who sells tea around the corner and the office workers who pass by every morning. It isn't a high-tech operation by any means. We still use paper ledgers for some things because that is just how we learned to do it. Sometimes the lights flicker a bit when it rains, but the roof doesn't leak, so we can't complain too much. We focus on keeping the inventory moving and answering the phone when it rings. People usually find us because they were walking down Infantry Road and noticed the sign. It’s a simple setup, and that is exactly how we like to keep it. Nothing too complicated, just a local business doing its thing every day.
