Uma Steel Center

Uma Steel Center is over in Kumbarpet, inside the Shanthi Mansion Building at number 160. We’re quite close to the Krishna Temple, which is a good landmark if you’re trying to find us in these narrow streets. Kumbarpet is always bustling, and our shop is filled with all kinds of steel items and kitchenware. It can get pretty loud with the sound of metal clinking and the crowds outside. The building itself has been there for years, and we’ve occupied this space for a long time. It’s a bit of a maze with all the stock piled up, but we know where everything is kept. We sell to a lot of local households and some smaller businesses too. People come here because they know the area for this kind of stuff. It’s not a modern showroom; it’s a traditional shop where things are stacked high on the shelves. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who handle the customers and the heavy lifting that comes with the job. Dealing with steel means it’s a lot of physical work moving boxes and crates around all day. The heat can get a bit much in the summer months, but the temple being nearby brings a nice feel to the street. We’ve been part of this market for ages and enjoy the daily interactions with the regulars who stop by to see what’s new in stock.
