Out here in Thimmapuram, life moves a bit differently. Tirumala Cotton & Agro Products is right in the middle of it all. We deal with what the land gives us, which is mostly cotton and various crops. Our building is a sturdy one, built to handle the heat and the dust that comes with the harvest season. We spend a lot of time outside talking to the farmers and checking the quality of the cotton bales. It’s not a clean job; you usually go home with white lint on your clothes and dirt on your boots. We don't have a big office with air conditioning and swivel chairs. We have a few wooden tables and some ledgers where we track everything by hand. The seasons dictate how busy we are. When the cotton is ready, we are working from sunrise until late at night. The rest of the year is for maintenance and planning for the next round. Everyone in the village knows who we are. We’ve been part of this community for a long time. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks because word of mouth is what matters here. It’s about being fair and getting the work done. The sun is hot, the work is physical, but it’s what we know. We just take it one day at a time, watching the fields and the weather. Our families have been around here for generations, so it feels right.
