Our office for Thorn Lighting India Pvt. Ltd. is at No. 43 Chamiers Road, over in Raja Annamalai Puram. It’s a well-known part of the city, so people usually don’t have much trouble finding us when they need to stop by. The building is a bit older, but it serves its purpose for our daily operations. We deal with lighting, so you’ll see different types of fixtures and bulbs around the place in various boxes. It’s not a fancy showroom, though; it’s more of a functional space where we handle the business side of things and process orders. The traffic on Chamiers Road can be pretty loud during the rush hour times, but we’ve gotten used to the constant sound of horns and engines by now. We spend our days on the phone or working on our computers, trying to get all the orders sorted out correctly. It’s a small team here, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, from answering the door to filing papers. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which is just part of life in the city. We have a small break area in the back where we grab coffee and talk about things other than work for a few minutes. We don’t have any mission statements on the walls. We just come in, do our jobs as best we can, and then go home to our families each evening.
