Thirupathithirupathi

Our shop is at number 60, Sri Venkateshwara Industries on Kalanagar Main Road. This part of K.G.Halli in Jalahalli West is very industrial. You can hear the sounds of metal hitting metal and the hum of heavy machinery from the neighbors all day long. Thirupathithirupathi is the name we use for the business. It is a busy area of Bangalore-560015, and the roads are often blocked by big lorries loading up goods. The workspace is mostly open with a high tin roof. It gets very loud when it rains, almost like drums beating over our heads. We have got some heavy work tables and tools scattered around where they are needed. It is a dusty place, no matter how much we clean. My shirt is usually covered in some kind of grease or grime by noon. We do not have a proper office room, just a small cabin in the corner with a table and two chairs for doing the accounts. Most of the time, I am out on the floor making sure things are moving along. We eat our lunch together on some plastic crates near the back door where there is a bit of a breeze. It is hard work and the days are long, but there is a certain rhythm to it that feels good. We just keep our heads down and focus on the tasks at hand until the sun goes down.
