The Candle Shop

The Candle Shop is right here at 294, K. Kamaraj Road. If you walk by, you can usually smell whatever we’re working on before you even see the sign. We spend most of our days surrounded by blocks of wax and different scents. It’s a bit of a messy process, to be honest. There are always little drips of wax on the floor that we have to scrape up later. K. Kamaraj Road is a lively street, and we get a lot of people just peeking in through the window to see what’s going on. We don't have a huge staff, so it’s often just one or two of us melting things down or packing up orders for people. The shelves are usually full of whatever we finished making that week. Sometimes the colors don't come out exactly how we thought they would, but that’s just part of how it goes when you’re doing it by hand. We’ve got some old fans that hum in the background to keep the air moving, which is definitely needed when the pots are all heating up. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful not to trip over each other. We don't really go in for any big marketing stuff; we just put the candles out and people seem to like them. It’s a simple life at 294, K. Kamaraj Road, and we like the rhythm of the work.
