Taj Steels

Our shop, Taj Steels, is tucked away in Tilak Nagar, just off the Old Padra Road. It is usually quite dusty around here because of all the metal moving in and out. We spend most of our mornings unloading trucks and stacking up the inventory. Steel is heavy work, so by the afternoon, everyone is usually pretty tired and looking for tea. We started this place a long time ago and have stayed in the same spot since the beginning. The neighborhood has changed a lot, with new shops opening up and more traffic on the road, but we just keep doing what we do. We don't have a website or a fancy showroom. Most people just walk in or call us when they need something specific for their construction or repairs. It's just a bunch of us working in the yard, cutting pieces to size and making sure the counts are right. Sometimes we make mistakes with the measurements and have to do it over, but we try to be careful. It’s loud here with the sound of metal hitting metal and the machines running. We drink a lot of chai and talk to the regulars who have been coming to us for years. It isn’t a glamorous job, but it is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down and we lock the gate.
