We’ve been at this spot for a good while now, working with iron and steel every day. The shop is always full of sparks and the smell of burnt metal, which I guess isn't for everyone, but it’s what we do. My hands are usually covered in grease or soot by lunchtime. We make all sorts of things like gates, window grills, and small frames for people in the neighborhood. It’s heavy work and my back usually aches by the time we close up for the night. The temple nearby brings a lot of people to this street, so it’s rarely quiet around here. I started this shop because I liked building things with my hands, and it just grew from there. We don't have a fancy showroom, just a big open space with our tools and piles of metal rods. Sometimes a job takes longer than I thought because a machine breaks down or the material isn't right, but we just keep at it until it’s finished. It’s a tough way to make a living, but there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing a finished gate ready to be installed. It’s just honest, hard work day in and day out for our small team.
