Syed General Store

Bangalore is always moving fast. Here on A P J Abdul Kalam Main Road, the traffic never really stops. We are close to the Arabic College, so we see a lot of students walking by every day. They usually stop in for a quick snack or a pen. The shop isn't fancy at all. We have some metal racks that we filled with things like soap, shampoo sachets, and different kinds of dal. We spend most of our time in Nagawara dealing with the daily rush. It gets quite loud outside with all the honking, but inside we just focus on the customers. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use a small torch to find things at the back of the store. We keep a ledger for some of the regulars who live in the neighborhood and pay at the end of the month. It is a lot of work keeping track of everything that people need, like milk packets in the morning or bread for tea time. My father started this and now we just keep it going as best as we can. We try to keep things that people ask for, like those small packets of spices or washing powder. The floors are a bit worn down from people coming in and out all day, but that is just how it is. We stay open until late at night because people always forget something they need for breakfast the next day.
