Swarnambha Provision Store

The shop sits right on Maravanji Road in Malleshwara, and most days it starts pretty early for us. My father used to run things here, but now I take care of the counter most of the time. We have those big heavy metal shutters that make a lot of noise when you pull them up at six in the morning. Inside, it smells like a mix of raw rice, dried chilies, and that specific scent of soaps and detergents. We have rows of steel bins for the pulses and grains. People from the neighborhood come by for their daily needs, usually just carrying a small cloth bag. Malleshwara has changed a lot over the years with more cars and people, but our little corner on Maravanji Road stays mostly the same. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the narrow path, and we have to help them navigate. We keep the inventory mostly to what people actually ask for, like tea leaves, oil, and spices. The wooden counter has been worn down over time where people lean to count their change. It isn't a fancy place with bright neon lights or anything. Just a regular provision store where the floor gets a bit dusty from the constant walking in and out. We spend a lot of time just chatting with the regulars who have lived here for decades. It is more about the routine than anything else. We close up when the sun goes down and the streetlights start flickering.
