Our warehouse and office are over at A-172 in the Peenya Industrial Estate, specifically in the First Stage on the 4th Cross. Peenya is a massive place, and it is easy to get lost if you don't know the cross streets well. We spend our days processing bright steels, which means there is a lot of polishing and cutting going on. The machines hum all day long, and there is always a layer of fine dust on everything, no matter how much we sweep. It is a practical workplace. We have a break area where we drink tea and talk about the news, but mostly we are on our feet. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans painted on the walls. We just have racks of steel that need to go out to customers. Sometimes the orders are small, sometimes they are quite large, but we treat them all about the same. The traffic in and out of the estate can be really slow in the mornings, so we all try to get here early to beat the worst of it. It’s a solid job and we take some pride in making sure the steel looks how it's supposed to when it leaves our door. It’s not a glamorous life, but it is what we know. We’ve been through good times and slow times here, and the steel keeps moving.
