Suntimes

Our place is in JP Nagar 7th Phase, specifically at 94/95. It’s a decent area with a lot of people moving in and out. Inside Suntimes, things are mostly about the ticking. We have clocks on the walls and watches in the glass cases. It’s not a huge showroom, just a practical space where we sit and look at small parts. Sometimes the lighting isn't great, so we use those little desk lamps to see what we are doing. The 7th Phase is a bit quieter than the older parts of JP Nagar, which is nice for this kind of work. We spend our mornings cleaning the glass and winding up the pieces that need it. There’s a certain way the shop smells—a bit of oil and old metal. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle the tools. People bring in things that stopped working years ago hoping we can do something. We take a look, give them a straight answer, and get to it. The workbench is always cluttered with tiny screws and springs that you can barely see. We have some tea around four o’clock when the shadows start getting long on the street. It’s a slow, careful kind of job. We don’t rush because that’s how things get broken. Each day is quiet, but there is always something small that needs fixing.
