You’ll find Sunnex Leather Crafts at No.43, Kamaraj Road, right at the entrance to Commercial Street. It’s one of the busiest parts of the city, so there’s always something happening outside our door. Our shop is small and a bit cramped because we do everything here. We have rolls of different leathers leaning against the walls and tools scattered across the workbenches. It smells strongly of tanned hide and glue, which we’ve stopped noticing but visitors always mention. We make various leather goods by hand. It’s not a high-tech factory; it’s just us using old sewing machines and hand tools to get the work done. We’ve been at this location for years, and we’ve seen shops around us come and go. Commercial Street is great for foot traffic, but it can be a headache when we are trying to get a delivery of new leather rolls into the shop through the crowds. We don't have a big corporate office or anyone in a suit working here. We just wear our aprons and get on with the day’s tasks. Sometimes we get behind on our orders because we take too much time on the small details, but that’s just how we work. We aren't interested in becoming a huge chain; we just like making things and seeing people buy them from our little corner on Kamaraj Road. It’s a lot of work but it’s what we do.
