Sumu Steels

Working with steel is a tough business but it’s what we do at Sumu Steels. We are located over on Narasimharaja Road, specifically out towards the Chandkheda Road area. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving long bars around. My back usually aches by the end of the day, but that’s expected when you’re dealing with this much metal. We stock different grades of steel for various building projects around the neighborhood. Most of the time, it’s contractors coming in with a handwritten list of what they need for a site. We spend our mornings unloading trucks and checking the inventory against our notes. It's a dusty environment with the smell of metal and oil everywhere. We don't have a fancy office; it’s mostly just a metal desk in the corner of the warehouse where we handle the payments and take calls. The phone rings a lot with people asking for current prices. The traffic on Chandkheda Road can be pretty bad, especially with all the construction trucks moving through the area. We’ve been at this location for a few years and have gotten to know the other shop owners nearby. It’s a straightforward operation. We buy the steel, we store it, and we sell it. There isn't much more to it than that. Sometimes the rain makes things difficult when we’re loading, but we manage to get it done. It’s just regular work for us, day in and day out.
