Down here at K-32 in the Ambattur Industrial Estate, things stay pretty loud. Sumedha Steels (P) Ltd. has been operating out of this unit for some time. If you know Ambattur, you know how the traffic gets around the estate during shift changes. We handle a lot of steel here. It’s heavy work and the floor is usually covered in some kind of dust or shavings. We aren't big on decorations or making the place look like a showroom. It’s an industrial unit, plain and simple. Most of us have been working with metal for years, so we just get on with it. The heat can be a bit much in the afternoons, especially with the machinery running, but that's just how it goes in this line of work. We get deliveries coming in at all hours. Sometimes the paperwork gets piled up on the desk, but we prioritize the actual cutting and moving of the steel. It’s a straightforward operation. We don’t have a big front office or anyone in a suit waiting to greet you. Usually, you’ll just find someone in overalls near the back. We’ve been in this same spot for years, and the neighbors in the estate are all doing similar tough work. It’s a grounded place where we just focus on the metal and the orders. We don't really have a sales pitch; we just do the work as it comes in and try to keep things moving along without too much trouble.
