Subramanya Stores

Subramanya Stores is a local shop at 126 Basavanagudi on Gangadhar Cheety Road. We are in the Shivanchetty Gardens area, which is a nice part of town, especially since we are right opposite Shamnna Park. The park gives us a nice view of green trees and people exercising, which is a pleasant change from the usual city concrete. Our store has been standing here for many years, and the building definitely shows its age in a charming way. Inside, we stock a wide variety of items that the local residents need for their homes. The wooden shelves are old and have been repainted a few times over the decades. We have a small bell above the door that rings every time someone enters, which helps us know when a customer has arrived if we are in the back room. The aisles are a little narrow, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over when it’s busy. We spend a lot of our time chatting with the neighbors who stop by not just to buy things, but also to catch up on the local news. It’s a very traditional neighborhood store where everyone knows each other’s names. We don't do any big advertising; we just stay open and keep the shelves full for the people of Basavanagudi. It’s a quiet but steady way of life for us here at the store.
