There are people carrying bundles of goods and carts moving through the hallways all day long. Our unit is number 79, which makes it easy to remember since it matches the name. The space isn’t huge, but we’ve made it work by stacking things high and keeping the desks close together. It’s a bit of a maze to get here if you’re not used to the building. We spend our time dealing with whoever walks through the door or answering queries from other traders in the market. It’s a loud place, with voices echoing and shutters clanging shut in the evening. We don’t have a fancy lobby for guests. You just walk right in and see us working. We’ve been part of this commercial hub for a while and we’ve seen shops come and go. We just keep doing what we do. The air can get a bit stuffy in the middle of the day, so we keep the fans going at full speed. We don’t put on a show for anyone. It’s just a busy, messy, productive space where we try to stay organized despite the chaos of the market outside our doors. It’s a real slice of the city’s trade life and we have gotten used to the fast pace.
