Our office is located in Bangalore. We don't have a huge, flashy building in one of those tech parks; we are just in a regular part of the city. Bangalore has changed so much, but our daily routine stays mostly the same. The traffic is usually the main topic of conversation in the morning when everyone finally makes it in. We work on career networks, which basically means a lot of phone calls and emails all day long. The office has a bit of a cramped feel because we have so many files and desks, but we make it work. There is a small balcony where people go to get some air, though it mostly just looks out onto other buildings and power lines. We have a small kitchen area where the kettle is always running. It gets quite cool in the evenings here, which is nice after a long day. We don't go for any of that corporate talk; we just sit down and do what needs to be done. Most of the staff have been here for a good while, so we all know how the printer likes to jam and which window doesn't close all the way. It’s a comfortable, slightly messy place that feels like a real office. People stop by to drop off resumes or ask about openings, and we just handle things as they come. It’s just how we operate in this city.
