Steelko Export

Our office is on the 3rd floor of the Guru Prasad building, located at 192/8 in Sion East. If you know Mumbai at all, you know Sion is always crowded and noisy. The building is an older one, and the stairs are a bit narrow and steep. We’re up on the third floor, so we get a bit of a view of the heavy traffic on the street below. Steelko Export is basically just a few of us in a couple of rooms filled with files and steel samples. It can get pretty humid in the afternoons, and our old fans just move the warm air around without doing much. We spend most of our time dealing with steel orders and talking to various suppliers. It’s a lot of back-and-forth on the phone and through emails all day long. We don't have any big signs or a lobby with a receptionist to greet people. You just walk in and we’re all right there working at our desks. The neighborhood has some good places to grab a quick snack or a tea during our breaks. We’ve been in this building for a long time. It’s a bit of a climb to get up here, but we don't mind it. Our work isn't very glamorous. It’s mostly checking technical specifications and making sure the export documents are in order. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the window when there’s a big monsoon storm. We just put a bucket there and keep on working.
