About Steel Master – Metals & Minerals in Bengaluru
If you head down to 177 Sadar Patrappa Road, you’ll find us right on Banki Nawab Street. The name on the board is Steel Master. This part of town is always crowded and the noise from the street never really stops. We deal with a lot of metal here every single day. The shop is narrow and deep, filled with bits and pieces of steel that we've collected over time. It smells like iron and old oil in here. I’ve spent more years than I can count on this street. The neighbors are all doing similar work, so there’s a lot of shouting back and forth across the road. My desk is tucked in a corner under a dim bulb that flickers sometimes. I don't mind the chaos of the market; it keeps me awake. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just walk in because they know we are here. The floor is concrete and scarred from years of dragging heavy loads across it. Every morning starts with a glass of tea and a look at the inventory list. It is a dirty job, and my clothes are never clean for long, but I like the feel of the material. Banki Nawab Street isn't for everyone, but it’s where we do our thing, day in and day out, without making much of a fuss. We keep the doors open until the sun goes down.
