Srinidhis S Rice N Nice

Over in Jayanagar at 16/2, we have our place called Srinidhis S Rice N Nice. It’s a bit of a funny name, but we just stick with it because people remember it. We mostly sell rice and some other staples that people need for their kitchens. Jayanagar is a nice area, usually quite a few people walking around and shopping. Our shop is just a regular spot on the street without any big signs. We spend our time weighing out grains on the scales and filling up bags for the customers. Some people want just a kilo for the week, others want a whole fifty-kilo sack. We don't mind either way. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful with how we stack the bags against the walls. We don't want anything falling over and making a mess. It gets a bit warm in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop. We just sit near the fan and wait for the next person to come in. We’ve seen a lot of regulars over the years. You get to know what kind of rice different families prefer for their meals. Some like it aged, some want the newer stock. We just try to have a bit of everything on hand. It’s a quiet kind of work. Not too much noise, just the sound of the metal scoops hitting the bins. We keep the place as clean as we can, though some grain always ends up on the floor. It’s just part of the daily life here.
