The office is situated at 4 Hesargatta Main Road, inside the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation area, or GIDC as everyone calls it. We are in Makarpura, right across from the Ammaji Kalyana mandapa. It’s an industrial part of town, so you see a lot of warehouses and factories all around us. Being in GIDC means we are always surrounded by heavy vehicles and the sound of loading docks. The office itself is quite simple. We have a few chairs for the drivers and a desk where we handle the dispatch notes. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we usually keep the fans running at full speed. People use the mandapa across the road as a landmark to find us, which is helpful since the industrial estate can be confusing for some. We manage a lot of different routes and spend a lot of time on the phone checking where the trucks are. It’s a lot of physical documents and keeping track of schedules that sometimes change at the last minute. We don't have a fancy website or a big marketing budget. We just show up every morning, open the shutters, and start managing the day’s transport. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. The work is steady and keeps us on our toes, especially when the roads are busy during the monsoon. We’ve been here at number 4 for a long time and the neighborhood knows us.
