Sri Venkateshwara Rice Traders

We are situated right on the corner of Hennur Main Road and 19th Main Road, at number 1. It’s a busy spot because of all the vehicles rushing past all day. The noise is something you just learn to live with after a while. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of grain bags stacked up high towards the ceiling. We have a small stool by the door where one of us usually sits to watch the street. The walls are a pale color that has faded over the years. We don't have any bright lights or neon signs. There is just a basic bulb that we flick on when it starts to get dark. The paperwork is all done by hand in these big bound books. We don't use computers much here. It’s a very manual process, from unloading the trucks to weighing out the portions for people. Sometimes the rain splashes in a bit through the front, so we have to move the bags back. We’ve been at this location for a good while and the neighbors know us. Sri Venkateshwara Rice Traders isn't a place with fancy displays. We just have the bags open so people can see what is inside. It is a bit cramped when we get a big delivery, but we just work around the mess. It's a plain, honest shop at number 1 on the 19th Main.
