You can find Sri Vasavi Condiments right on D.V.G. Road in Basavanagudi, at number 85/1. If you have ever been to this street, you know it is always packed with people, especially on weekends or during any festival. Our shop is quite small, but we managed to fit a lot of things onto the shelves. There is always a strong smell of spices and fried snacks in the air from the moment we open the shutters in the morning. It gets really loud with the customers outside and the staff calling out orders to each other. We don't have much space for people to sit down, so most people just grab what they need and go. The shelves are constantly being refilled with jars and packets of all sorts of things. I have been working here for a long time, and it is still surprising to see how many people pass through such a narrow door every single day. Sometimes it starts to rain suddenly and everyone on the sidewalk tries to crowd under our small awning to stay dry, which makes things a bit chaotic for a while. We don't use any fancy computers to keep track of the sales; we just write things down by hand and know where every single item is kept. The stone floor has been worn smooth over many years by all the people walking in and out. It isn't a big modern supermarket, just a local spot where people come for their daily snacks and staples.
