Sri Subramania Spinning Private Limited is located at 58 Coral Merchant Street, though the new number is 113. It’s an old part of the city, and the street itself has a lot of history with traders and merchants. Our building is one of those traditional ones with high ceilings that help a bit with the humidity. We deal with yarn and spinning, so there is always a bit of lint in the air and the smell of raw cotton. It’s not a quiet place; there’s always the hum of something running or the sound of carts being pushed over the uneven floors. We spend our time managing the production and making sure the quality of the thread is what it should be. The office is right in the middle of it all, so we can hear everything that’s going on. We don't use much fancy technology, just the machines we’ve relied on and some basic computers for the billing. Most of the staff have been with us for a long time, so they know the machines better than anyone. We have to be careful with the storage because of the moisture in the air here in Chennai. It’s a lot of hard work and staying on your feet, but that’s just how the spinning business is. We like being on Coral Merchant Street because it feels like we are part of the old commercial heart of the town.
