Sri Ramdev Steel

Running Sri Ramdev Steel takes up most of our time. We are situated on Banneraghatta Road, specifically in the Vastrapur 41275 area. It is a heavy kind of job. You spend the whole day surrounded by metal and the smell of industrial supplies. The trucks come in early to drop off stock, and then we have to figure out where to put everything so we can still move around the floor. It’s not the cleanest environment, but that is just the nature of dealing with steel. Our hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning. We don’t have fancy chairs or a polished lobby. Most people who come here are looking for specific sizes or types of steel for their own projects. We talk to contractors and builders who are usually in a hurry. The road outside is always loud with vehicles, so we end up shouting a bit just to be heard over the engines. We’ve got a small corner where we keep the records and a computer that’s seen better days. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the metal sheets stored near the front. We just keep the doors open to get whatever breeze comes through. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living. We don’t do much else besides manage the inventory and make sure the orders get loaded onto the right vehicles. That’s the life here at Vastrapur, just moving metal every single day.
