We spend most of our mornings very early at the market, picking out the freshest marigolds and roses for Sri Rama Flower Decorators. Our shop is at JP Nagar Golf Club Road #494/9, and it’s usually full of petals and the smell of jasmine. Decorating for weddings or small house pujas is what we do every single day. It’s messy work, honestly. There’s always water on the floor and clippings everywhere. We use a lot of thread and needles to string the garlands together. Sometimes a customer comes in with a very specific idea for a stage backdrop, and we have to figure out how to make it work with whatever flowers are in season. JP Nagar is a nice area, but the traffic near the golf club can make deliveries a bit of a headache. We have a few guys who help with the heavy lifting and setting up the bamboo frames for the bigger events. It’s not just about the flowers; it’s about making sure the colors look right under the lights. We don’t have a big office or anything, just this workspace where we sit on the floor and weave the greens and blossoms. When there’s a festival, we barely sleep, working through the night to get everything ready. It’s tiring on the hands and the back, but seeing a finished garland or a decorated doorway makes the long hours feel okay. We just keep at it, one event at a time, until the last petal is swept away.
