Sri Raghavendra Wood Designing Works

Our shop, Sri Raghavendra Wood Designing Works, is located at 44 New Timberyard Layout on the 1st main. Being in the N T Y Layout means we are surrounded by wood all day long. The workshop is always noisy with the sound of saws and carving tools. There is sawdust everywhere, on the floor and on our clothes, but that is just part of the job. We have been in this same spot for a long time. People bring us pieces of wood or designs they want made, and we just get to work. We don't have a big office or a place to sit down. Most of the time, we are standing at the benches working with our hands. It is a lot of hard work and it can be tiring when the weather is hot. Sometimes we go to the small tea shop at the corner to take a break from the noise. We have a few skilled workers who understand how to handle different types of timber. We don't use any big machines for the delicate parts, just old-fashioned tools. It is a slow process sometimes, but we don't like to rush things. We just focus on the piece of wood in front of us until it looks right. It is a humble way to earn a living in this busy timber yard.
