Sri Nala Leathers

If you go down Anna Salai in Nagalkeni, you will find us at number 92. This is the heart of the leather area, so you can always smell the hides and the processing chemicals in the air. Sri Nala Leathers has been here for years, right in the middle of all the action. The building is old, with high ceilings and stone floors that have seen a lot of wear. We do not have a showroom with bright lights. Most of what we do is back in the workshop area where the actual tanning and cutting happens. It is a tough job, and it is hard on your hands. We have a small crew of workers who really know their stuff. Some of them have been working with leather since they were kids. We get raw skins in and we process them until they are ready for whatever the customer wants. Sometimes the orders are big, and we are working late into the night. Other times, it is a bit slower. We do not use any fancy sales talk. We just show the quality of the leather and let that be it. The street outside is always busy with carts and bikes moving goods around. It can be quite a mess during the monsoon when the roads get muddy. But we stay inside and keep working. It is a traditional trade, and we are just trying to keep it going as best we can.
