Sri Mahalakshmi Wooden & Steel Fruniture

You can find us at Sri Mahalakshmi Wooden & Steel Furniture over at units 2 and 3 on Kurubarahalli Road. Specifically, we are at number 11 Apoorva Flats, C-2, on South Raja Street in Alandur, Chennai. We are right near the Balasubramanyaswamy Temple, so we often hear the bells and the crowds from there. Our shop is filled with the smell of cut wood and the sound of metal being moved around. We make all sorts of things, from simple wooden chairs to heavy steel cupboards that take three people to lift. It is a dusty environment, and we usually have sawdust on our clothes by noon. The Alandur area is quite old and traditional, and we fit right in with the other small shops on South Raja Street. We don't have a showroom with bright lights and air conditioning; it is just a workshop where we build things. People from the Apoorva Flats and the surrounding streets often stop by to see what we are working on. Sometimes they want a custom shelf or just need a door fixed. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks to get customers. Most people just see our sign or hear about us from their neighbors. We have been working with our hands for years, and we prefer it that way. It is honest work, and seeing a finished piece of furniture leave the shop is enough.
