Sri Lakshmi Foods

Sri Lakshmi Foods is right on Herohalli Vijaynagar Road, and we’ve been here quite a while. Most of the time it’s just a lot of chopping and cooking going on in the back. We start pretty early, before the sun is even really up, to get things ready for the breakfast rush. The kitchen gets hot, but you get used to it after a couple of hours. We mostly make things that people can take home or eat quickly before they head to the office. It’s not a fancy setup. The tables are basic and we don't have a lot of space for people to linger. We buy our vegetables from the local market every other day. Sometimes the bags are heavy and the rainy season makes the entrance a bit muddy, but we keep a rug there. People know us for being consistent. We don’t change the recipes much because that’s what everyone expects when they come here. If we run out of something, we just tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s a straightforward way to run things. My hands usually smell like spices even after I wash them three times. The traffic on the road can get really loud in the afternoon, but inside we just focus on the orders. It’s a busy life but it feels good to be part of the neighborhood here. We see the same people every morning and it makes the work feel a lot more personal.
