Sri Chowdeshwari Rice Traders

Our shop is tucked away behind Subbaiah Hospital in Mathikere, specifically at 12th Main and 3rd Cross. It’s a bit of a quiet corner, which we like. We deal mostly in different kinds of rice, keeping the sacks stacked high against the walls. The smell of the grain is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It’s a small place, so when we get a new shipment, it feels very crowded for a day or two until we get everything organized. We don't have any assistants, just us managing the scales and the bags. It’s a lot of bending and lifting, but it keeps us moving. We’ve been here long enough that we know which families prefer which variety of rice. People usually find us by word of mouth since we aren't on the main road. We don't have a website or any of that stuff; we just open the shutters in the morning and close them when the sun goes down. Sometimes we sit on the steps and watch the people going to the hospital. It’s a very local feel here. We keep a ledger for the regular customers who pay at the end of the month. It’s an old way of doing things, but it works for a neighborhood like ours. No frills, just good rice and a steady routine every single day. We are happy to stay right here in our corner.
