Sri Balaji Rice Centre

Down here at New KG Layout 46/2-A, things stay pretty busy throughout the week. Sri Balaji Rice Centre is tucked away in B T M 1st Stage on the 1St Main and 3Rd Cross. It’s a bit of a maze back here but once you find us, you’ll see bags of rice stacked all the way to the ceiling. We handle a lot of different varieties, some from local farms and some from further away. The air always smells like raw grain and burlap. We spend a lot of time hauling those fifty-kilo bags around, which keeps us tired but it’s good work. The shop isn't much to look at, just a big open space with some weighing scales and a small wooden desk where we sit. We get a lot of locals coming in for their monthly supply, and we recognize most of them by now. Sometimes the rain leaks in near the back door so we have to move the stock quickly. It’s a lot of physical labor, opening up the shutters early and sweeping the floor before the first customer shows up. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the sign out front and people talking to their neighbors. Our 3Rd Cross location is quiet compared to the main roads, which makes it easier for trucks to pull in and unload without blocking too much traffic. We just keep our heads down and get the orders ready.
