Sree Lakshmi Tent House

You can find us in Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar, specifically in Dashmesh Nagar. We are right opposite the Dashmesh Shiiv Mandir 4. It is a busy spot, especially when there is a festival going on at the temple. Sree Lakshmi Tent House is basically a big storage space full of poles, colorful cloths, and hundreds of plastic chairs. We spend most of our time loading things onto the truck and driving them to different spots for functions. My hands are usually calloused from tying ropes and lifting heavy metal frames all day. It is tiring work, especially when it is hot outside. We have to make sure everything is tied down tight so the wind doesn't blow the tents away. After a big party, we go back and pack everything up, which usually takes half the night. The cloths need to be folded and checked for stains or tears. We have been in this location for quite a while, and the neighbors know us by the sound of the pipes clanking together. It is a lot of physical labor but it is what we do. The storage room smells a bit like old fabric and metal. We don't have a big office, just a small desk near the entrance where we take down the dates for the bookings. It's a simple business but it keeps us on our feet constantly. We keep the truck parked outside and hope the rain doesn't start while we're loading.
